Dynasty Trades to Make BEFORE the NFL Trade Deadline

Time to speculate...

With the NFL trade deadline approaching, let's discuss possible NFL trades and the dynasty moves we should be making before these possible NFL trades take place.

Rumor

Browns will trade Kareem Hunt to a contending team like the Bills, Rams or Eagles.

Notes

He's a free agent at the end of this year and the Browns won't take a cap hit at all for trading him now.

His usage the past two weeks has been surprisingly low.

Dynasty Moves

Contender:

If I'm contending this year, I would trade a late 2nd for this 27 year old.

With this often-injured, 6th year vet, I wouldn't give up too much for him. However, with the right fit, he has a chance to help you in the playoffs this season.

As a contender, I'm also looking to add D'Ernest Johnson as a cheap handcuff (see why below).

Rebuild:

Honestly, who knows what to expect with this Browns backfield?

I've always been a fan of D'Ernest Johnson. He won't fill Hunt's roll in this offense, but if Kareem is traded, then Johnson becomes one of the top handcuffs in the entire league.

For his 3 starts in Chubb's absence last season, Johnson scored 24.8, 22.7 and 20.3 fantasy points.

As for replacing Hunt, either Demetric Felton or 5th round pick Jerome Ford (IR for 2022) are in line to fill that roll.

I think it's a good idea to add Felton now, who's only owned in 14% of leagues according to Sleeper. IF Hunt is traded, then you could sell the new hype on Felton for a 3rd round pick possibly. It's a quick flip!

Rumor

Dolphins trade Mike Gesicki to a TE-needy contender like the Bucs or Giants.

Notes

Gesicki has finished as a TE1 for 3 straight years.

Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins 1st year head coach, doesn't prioritize a pass-catching TE in his offense.

In my opinion, Gesicki is a top 5 TE talent in this league, which Coach McDaniel also realizes. The Dolphins should be able to see a decent return for this type of player.

Dynasty Moves

Contender:

One of my favorite offers as a contender is Gesicki and your 3rd for my 2nd round pick.

As in my 2nd round pick will end up being 2.09-2.12 and your 3rd round pick will be somewhere between 3.01-3.06. On paper it looks great for them, but in reality I'm getting a TE1 for simply dropping 5 spots in the draft.

Rebuild:

Buy Mike Gesicki!

Trade one of your vets to a contender who has Gesicki. Something like Raheem Mostert straight up for Mike Gesicki.

Give a contender an older-RB or WR for Gesicki and draft capital.

You could give away Adam Thielen for Mike Gesicki AND a 2nd in return. Something along those lines.

Another route - you could pick up Durham Smythe right now, who's only rostered in 6% of leagues according to Sleeper.

IF Gesicki is traded, then Smythe's value with rise fast.

With leverage, you could sell Smythe right away for a 3rd round pick or even a raw, young player like Donovan Peoples-Jones, Terrace Marshall, Amari Rodgers, etc. It's a quick flip!

Rumor

Jerry Jeudy might be on the move, especially if the Broncos fall to 2-6 after losing to the Jags in London.

Notes

Yeesh...

Broncos aren't good and Russell Wilson is currently sitting 29th in overall QBR. He's sitting one spot behind Davis Mills in this statistic.

As painful as it sounds, if they lose to Jacksonville during week 8, this first year coach/QB combo needs to start prepping for a fresh start next season.

Broncos only take a 2.1 million cap hit if they move on from Jeudy, which as a 23 year old 1st round pick, is quite intriguing to a team like the Vikings, Bills, Packers or Giants.

Dynasty Moves

Contender:

I'd start with a 2nd round pick and then negotiate from there.

I also like trading away my 1st (if I think it'll be 1.09-1.12) for Jeudy and their 2nd (if that pick will fall between 2.01-2.05).

Trade for Courtland Sutton!

He's coming off of back-to-back poor performances, so you might be able to get him at a slight discount. I would offer a 2nd and a 3rd as my starting point and go from there.

Rebuild:

Trade away a veteran like DeAndre Hopkins or see if they would bite on a player like James Conner.

Pick up Montrell Washington, who is listed as Jeudy's backup on the Broncos depth chart. The rookie 5th round pick out of Samford is rostered in only 21% of leagues right now.

Even if you're not sold on Sutton, Jeudy, Hamler, Washington or Hinton, try to acquire them now. My reasoning - if Jeudy or Hamler is traded, then the dynasty stock of these 5 WRs will rise and now you hold the leverage to make a quick flip!
